The Pius IX Library, established in 1773, boasts 500,000 documents, 650 journals, 7 floors, 6 subject-specific areas and also includes reading rooms, workstations for research and support for bibliographic consultation.
In 2009, the library was awarded the prestigious Italian Award: IN/ ARCH-ANCE Intervento di Nuova Costruzione (Intervention for New Construction).
This award recognizes an architectural work of great importance which demonstrates desire for innovation and development, both values pursued by Lateran University.
