Established by the Holy See in 1853 for the study of positive and other auxiliary juridical disciplines, today the Faculty of Civil Law still constitutes an unicum among the Roman Pontifical Faculties. With a Decree of the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research of the Italian Republic (2 July 2004 and 21 September 2006), the Master’s Degree in Law obtained in the Faculty is equivalent to the related Italian qualification.
Five-year course with “comparative civil law program”:
- First Cycle or Bachelor’s degree, for the attainment of the Bachelor’s degree in Civil Law. Duration 3 years.
- Second Cycle or Licentiate Cycle, for the attainment of the Civil Law Licentiate degree. Duration 2 years.
- Third Cycle or Doctorate, for the attainment of Doctorate degree in Comparative Civil Law. Duration 1 year.
Five-year single cycle program for the attainment of Master’s degree in Law – LMG / 01 (The certificates are considered equivalent to those of the Italian university system). Duration 5 years.
High specialization course which includes: Third cycle or PhD cycle, for the attainment of PhD. Duration 3 years. (The course and certificates are considered equivalent to those of the Italian university system).
